In light of what's been taking place on dA these past days, $micahgoulart and I thought it would be nice to lighten up the mood around here and bring back a bit of what's been missing lately-- community. We met with some of dA's greatest photographers and together we'll be hosting a contest that will seek to instill in each one of you a desire to submit some quality photography.

We want your photos in this contest to give us your snapshot of the human being's basic emotions. These emotions are vividly represented in each one of us throughout our daily lives, and our aim is for you to recognise these emotions at its deepest level of detail and give us your view.

The basic emotions are:

Love
Joy
Surprise
Anger
Sadness
Fear

What we ($micahgoulart, *ssilence, `isacg, +cweeks, `nighty, @igy, and *x-horizon) would like, is for you to capture any one of these emotions (or their subcategories) and submit it as an entry to the contest. The photos can be of anything, not just of people or portraits, that is, as long as you're portraying a specific emotion(s) through them.

THE RULES

^{1. A maximum of one submission per person. Think well before you submit.

2. In the photo description, you must indicate what emotion you are portraying. More than one emotion portrayed is completely fine, just let us know which ones.

3. Digital manipulations (colour/contrast/brightness/saturation corrections and so forth) are permitted as long as it does not overpower the shot itself.

4. No erotic/nude photos. This contest needs to be open for all ages.

5. No previously uploaded photos on DA. Photos must be submitted on this Thursday, August 4th, 2005 and afterwards.

6. You must send a note to `isacg and/or $micahgoulart with the link to the photo that you uploaded here on DA and we'll add it to the Emotions Contest journal that organizes all the thumbnails.

7. You must indicate in your deviation description that the photo is for this contest with a link to it.

8. Photos will be accepted until Wednesday, September 7th, 2005 at midnight GMT. After the closing date, the judges ($micahgoulart, *ssilence,`isacg, +cweeks, `nighty, @igy, *x-horizon), will choose and agree among themselves on the top 10 photos from all the entries. Finally, YOU will then be deciding the winner through a DA Poll on our pages.

* If your image is chosen as one of the top 10 entries, but it does not follow the rules and regulations, it will be immediately disqualified.}

I'll definately have to try and have a wack at it. If anything it will be a new expierience for me, as I have never done that kind of photography.
