I needed a new journal, as it seems I only update these things once or twice a year. It's crazy! but yah, now I'm getting this updated and I wanted to wish everyone here a happy new year. 2007 was an interesting year, and hopefully 2008 will be just as good.

For those interested in a calendar for this new year, I recently made a collection of my photos and put them into a calendar. Check it out if ya want.

My New Calendar

Anyway, I won a brand new camera from United Airline's Hemisphere Magazine back in October, the Pentax K10D.

My New Camera

I'm loving this new camera and I hope to get some beautiful shots with it. Not only did I win this DSLR, I also won a 7 day trip to Hawaii with a companion, with a stay at a resort and car rental included. Isn't that amazing?! I was super surprised. If you want to check out my magazine spread, click on the magazine:

On a different note, I'm back in North America now, working on my graduate degree at a university in Missouri. I've been enjoying my studies but haven't had many opportunities for great photos. So I'm really looking forward to my visit to hawaii where I hope to get some amazing new photos to post up here.

Well, to all those who have stopped by, commented, faved, and/or left a note, thanks and hope you had a great holiday season. Have a good new year and I'll catch you all around.

Take care,
Isac

School's been out for the past month and a half already and I've barely felt it fly by. Seems like each year vacation's getting shorter and shorter. Not much has happened and so each day seems to blur into each other and I'm not sure sometimes if its a Monday or a Wednesday.. it's that bad.

Lot's of new things are going on, $micahgoulart is packing his bags to head up to the USA with his family for a few years of more studies. I'll be heading off in January, so I have a semester left here in Brazil. We've taken a few days to be together as a family; going off to the beach about two weeks ago was really good. I had the chance to take some cool shots like Dare to Fly and Fly-By Kicking.

I'm planning on setting up a new wireless system here at the school, so I'll be messing with some annoyingly complicated Cisco equipment this week trying to get it to communicate with our already limited infrastructure. That ought to be fun.

What I'm looking forward to is the new semester where I'll be teaching some electives such as photography, design, and creative writing. It'll be good to return to the normal daily routine teaching, rather than sitting around during the summer watching the days fly by.

Well, I just wanted to update my journal since it seems like I never do. Hope everybody's doing great and once again, thanks for all the support with the comments and faves.

Almost a month later, I've finally decided I need to update my journal and post some new news. I had been working hard at finishing a yearbook here at the school where I teach, which took a lot of my free time, but now I'm free and looking forward to vacation time. There's just this one week left of school, which in a way is a double edged sword: I will have plenty of free time, but I will also most likely not have enough to do to keep me away from boredom.

Anyways, I decided I would feature some of my friends here on dA that are also friends and students of mine in real life. They've all pretty new to deviantART, so check out their works and give them some encouraging comments to get them started well. Here they are:

Rhiannon (~out-of-ideas)

Drew (~drucpec)

Mike (~mitirolu)

Junior (~juniorfilsinger)

That's it. I'll be posting more news up later on when vacation really starts. Thanks for all the support these past few weeks. I appreciate it.

Take care.

Free 8x12 Prints !!!

In 2005, after I had just received my first dA prints, I decided to set the price down on all my prints for a week allowing people to buy them at a cost-only price. And now two years later, I'm going to set all 8x12 or 10x10 prints of my photos again for free. * When I say for free, I mean "with no profit for myself." (you can only set the price down to cost-only.)

So instead of paying the standard $ 12.95 for an 8 x 12 or 10 x 10 print, you can now get them for a mere $3 (glossy/matte) or $3.60 (lustre prints). That's over 75 % off the usual price.

This gift to you all will only last for a week so take advantage of it now before April 22. :D

To see all the available prints go to my store.

Enjoy!

...updating the journal...

I decided to play around with the CSS capabilities of the journals here on dA today, and as I was doing so, I noticed that last time I updated my journal was back in September of 2006! So I need to post something up here just to change the look of this page a bit. (a big thanks to ^kuschelirmel and her work with the tutorials from which I was able to modify this journal)

...school and work...

So what have I been up to these days? Well, besides just getting over a 4-day-long tropical fever, I have been keeping busy working at the school here and getting ready to start working big time on the school's yearbook too. I've decided to go with a grungy, darker look using lots of vectors and all, but I'm still learning the ins and outs of illustrator and freehand before I get my hands too dirty. It's not easy, I tell you. Now I really see the talent required to make all those vector wallpapers you see out here on dA.

...photography...

Well, as you can see, I haven't had too much time to work on my photos, but this following week is going to be spring break, so I'll start dedicating more time to getting new photos up and replying to comments checking out my friends' pages. It's been tough this year to find time to go online and check up on all the great friends I've made here on dA. If it weren't for my brother, who constantly works on dA and is showing me the updates and all, I would probably forget to log on every now and then to check up on the news and events going on here.

...brasil...

Last year sometime, I had gone after the original owner of the page [link] to ask if I could pick up the page from him/her and manage it better. I eventually found the person and did end up getting control of it, but never found time to administrate the community well. So I put up an ad on the page inviting anybody with better administrating skills to take over the community from me, and recently =likuid got a hold of me and asked if he could have the job. He seemed like a very capable person, so I handed it over to him, and as some of you probably know, the place is growing like crazy and doing very well. =likuid has done an amazing job there and the community is once again someplace we Brazilians here on dA can be proud of. If you haven't been there yet, make sure you drop by: *brasil

...in conclusion...

Anyways, I'll try to keep this journal updated more frequently and see if I can fix this CSS style to look better too. Thanks to all of you who have dropped by and who left a comment or a fav. Talk to you all later.
