Last weekend, on Saturday, I went on a boat trip out to an island off the mouth of the great Amazon River. I took some great shots of the riverside, but what struck me was these little houses on stilts beside the river every few hundred meters at some points. The people who live there have only canoes as their means of transportation ,and I suppose fishing and some fruits from the island as their food. I also took some pictures of kids out on their canoes following our bigger boat. I'll upload that later.
We spent around 2 hours on the island and a few hours on the boat ride under a very hot, tropical rainforest sun, but it was definitely worthwhile. Oh, and this was one of the first few days testing out my brand new digital camera, the Sony H2. Great camera. I'm looking forward to more beach shots soon. As for now, I'll be uploading some shots from the boat ride. |

The only thing I would have liked to change in the photo is perhaps a bit more focus on the house and also a bit of a lighting change since it seems that the sun is reflecting a crazy amount of light off of the river....I realize these things aren't exactly in your control...well, maybe the focus.
I really do love the pic, though.
